We are a San Francisco-based upholstery firm specializing in custom new construction furniture for the interior design trade. In addition to bespoke pieces, we offer reupholstery services and custom soft goods for the home. Our company is dedicated to bringing our clients’ visions to life through time-tested, traditional craftsmanship. This commitment is made possible by our team of skilled upholsterers, sewists, and administrative staff, who collectively bring over a century of experience in fine furniture making. Our team shares a meticulous attention to detail and pride in providing the highest quality of work, all within a friendly and supportive environment.

Karie White

President

Karie White has worked within the home goods fabrication industry for over twenty years. After beginning her career under the tutelage of famed seamstress Sandra Betzina, Karie honed her skills through owning and founding her own soft goods fabrication business and then moved on to manage a “to the trade” drapery, bedding, and soft furnishings workroom, Laurel Sprigg. After leading the Hardesty Dwyer stitching team for eight years, she purchased Hardesty Dwyer & Co in July 2025 from longtime owner Amanda Hardesty Dwyer.

In short, Karie loves to make beautiful things for people to live in. Transforming a cut of cloth, spring coils, and a skeleton of hardwood into a place you can relax for a meal or lounge with a book is her idea of magic. Her love of sewing and furnishings, and her commitment to actualizing interior designers’ vision in creating a home tailored for you—that’s what upholstery means to her.
